The international architectural firm, known for its iconic buildings such as the Whitney Museum in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, was chosen over Foster + Partners and Snøhetta. Although Foster + Partners was the second choice, they may still be selected if a contract agreement cannot be reached with Renzo Piano. The committee members expressed their admiration for all three finalists and emphasized the extraordinary opportunity it is for Sarasota to have such a renowned architect involved in the project. The decision was not based on specific design ideas but on the firms' history, staff, and capabilities. Once a contract is finalized, the design process will commence, with the Paratus Group serving as the project management firm.
